The amaryllis bulb is sold individually. The impressive, shiny flowers of the amaryllis bloom majestically on their long stems and capture attention.

Large amaryllis bulbs are available at florists, ready for planting in containers. In case the bulbs are not already potted, choose a container with drainage holes, 3-5 centimeters larger in diameter than the size of the bulb.

• Use suitable soil for planting, consisting of equal parts of clay fertile soil, peat, and perlite or sand.
• Plant the bulb in the soil so that one third to half of the bulb is above the soil.
• After planting, water the soil well and place the pot in a warm and sunny spot or near a window.

To schedule specific flowering dates, decide when you want the amaryllis to bloom. The bulbs should remain in their container for 6 to 12 weeks before that date.
