The airlock attaches to the lid of the fermentation bucket and functions as a one-way valve. By adding a small amount of odorless high-alcohol beverage or disinfectant, the airlock keeps the bucket airtight, protecting the must from contact with air, while allowing the gases produced during fermentation to escape from the bucket.
