What is Alchemised?
It is a dark fantasy masterpiece divided into 3 parts and it feels like reading 3 books.
The first part is the one that throws you into the deep end, with most things you read not making sense and the world being built at a relatively fast pace.
Don’t let this scare you, keep going. You’re not doing anything wrong, just try to focus on a few terms and keep what Cain says as a talisman.
The second part is the one that essentially connects all the pieces of the puzzle and builds a plot that will ultimately leave you speechless.
And finally, the third part is the one that twists the knife in the wound and leaves you stunned….
Is it worth reading? It’s very long…
It’s definitely worth reading if you love your books to have more depth and you’re not looking for something simple to just “kill” time. Alchemised burns your brain, not your time, but trust me, you’ll enjoy every brain cell you leave behind.
Is there spice?
You’ll see many categorize this book as romantasy but for me that’s a tragic mistake. Yes, there is definitely a very strong couple here but their story is not a romance story, but one of obsession and dark passion. The hope they find in each other is the piece that triggers the creation of this magical puzzle of interactions, but we’re talking more about obsession and an epic love rather than a pure romance couple in a “happily ever after” story. So yes, you will find erotic scenes in this book but trust me, it’s the meaning behind them that will mark you, not the eroticism.
Do I need to have read Harry Potter to read Alchemised?
No! Although the original form of the book is a fan fiction starring Hermione and Malfoy - see Manacled - Alchemised is a completely standalone book that has been fully adapted to a new world with characters that have "fit" into the new world-building and not the Harry Potter universe. And that’s the magic that happened with this book, how the author won the bet and shed the Harry Potter stigma from her story, delivering to her audience a universe and a magic system that can stand exceptionally and undeniably on its own.
What makes Alchemised so special?
The writing and the way the author manages to immerse you in the dark and atmospheric mood of the plot. Images are gradually built in your mind and the characters win you over each in their own way. And all this may take a while, but trust me, when it happens it will be a book you won’t want to put down.
The politics are also one of the book’s strong points and of course, the best part, I think, is the connections and the gigantic plot twist that will definitely keep you awake for entire nights.

I recommend this book to anyone looking for an epic experience that will leave a lasting mark on them.

Η Έλενα Μαρίνο είναι αιχμάλωτη και χρησιμοποιείται για τις σπάνιες ικανότητές της στην αλχημεία. Καθώς προσπαθεί να επιβιώσει σε ένα σκληρό και πολιτικά φορτισμένο περιβάλλον, αναγκάζεται να συνεργαστεί με έναν ισχυρό αλλά μυστηριώδη άνδρα, τον Κέιν Φέρον. Στην πορεία, αποκαλύπτονται μυστικά για το παρελθόν της, την πραγματική φύση της αλχημείας και τις σκοτεινές δυνάμεις που κυβερνούν τον κόσμο τους.
Τι είναι το Alchemised;
Είναι ένα σκοτεινό αριστούργημα φαντασίας που χωρίζεται σε 3 μέρη και είναι σαν να διαβάζεις 3 βιβλία.
Το πρώτο μέρος είναι εκείνο το κομμάτι που θα νιώσεις να σε ρίχνει στα βαθιά με τα περισσότερα που διαβάζεις να μην βγάζουν νόημα με τον κόσμο να χτίζεται σε σχετικά γρήγορους ρυθμούς.
Μην σε τρομάξει αυτό, συνέχισε. Δεν κάνεις τίποτα λάθος, προσπάθησε απλά να εστίασεις σε μερικούς όρους και κράτα σαν φυλαχτό όσα λέει ο Κέιν.
Το δεύτερο μέρος είναι εκείνο που ουσιαστικά ενώνει όλα τα κομμάτια του παζλ και σου χτίζει μια πλοκή που τελικά θα σε αφήσει με το στόμα ανοιχτό.
Και τέλος το τρίτο μέρος είναι εκείνο που σου γυρίζει το καρφί στην πληγή και σε αφήνει σύξυλο….
Αξίζει να το διαβάσω; Είναι πολύ μεγάλο…
Σίγουρα αξίζει να το διαβάσεις αν αγαπάς τα βιβλία σου να έχουν ένα μεγαλύτερο βάθος και δεν ψάχνεις κάτι απλό για να «κάψεις» την ώρα σου. Το Alchemised σου καίει τον εγκέφαλο, όχι την ώρα αλλά πίστεψε με θα απολαύσεις κάθε εγκεφαλικό κύτταρο που αφήσεις πίσω σου.
Έχει spice;
Θα δεις από πολλούς να κατατάσσουν το βιβλίο αυτό στην κατηγορία romantasy αλλά για μένα είναι τραγικό λάθος. Ναι, σίγουρα υπάρχει ένα πολύ δυνατό ζευγάρι εδώ μέσα αλλά η ιστορία τους δεν πρόκειται για romance ιστορία, αλλά για εμμονή και σκοτεινό πάθος. Η ελπίδα που βρίσκουν ο ένας στον άλλον είναι το κομμάτι που πυροδοτεί για να δημιουργηθεί όλο αυτό το μαγευτικό παζλ αλληλεπιδράσεων, ωστόσο μιλάμε περισσότερο για εμμονή και για έναν επικό έρωτα παρά για ένα αγνό romance ζευγάρι στο «ζήσαν αυτοί καλά και εμείς καλύτερα». Οπότε ναι, θα βρεις ερωτικές σκηνές σε αυτό το βιβλίο αλλά πίστεψε με είναι το νόημα πίσω από αυτές που θα σε στιγματίσει και όχι ο ερωτισμός.
Θα πρέπει να έχω διαβάσει Χάρι Πότερ για να διαβάσω Alchemised;
Όχι! Παρόλο που η αρχική μορφή του βιβλίου αυτή είναι ένα fan fiction με πρωταγωνιστές την Ερμιόνη και τον Μαλφοι -βλέπε Manacled- το Alchemised είναι ένα εντελώς αυτούσιο βιβλίο που έχει προσαρμοστεί εξολοκλήρου σε έναν νέο κόσμο με χαρακτήρες που έχουν «κουμπώσει» στην νέα κοσμοπλασια και όχι στον κόσμο του Χάρι Πότερ. Και αυτό είναι το μαγικό που συνέβη με αυτό το βιβλίο, το πώς δηλαδή η συγγραφέας κέρδισε το στοίχημα και απέβαλε το στίγμα του Χάρι Πότερ από την ιστορία της, παραδίνοντας στον κοινό της ένα σύμπαν και ένα σύστημα μαγείας που μπορεί να σταθεί εξαιρετικά και αδιαμφισβήτητα μόνο του.
Τι είναι αυτό που κάνει το Alchemised τόσο ξεχωριστό;
Η γραφή και ο τρόπος που η συγγραφέας καταφέρνει να σε εντάξει μέσα στο σκοτεινό και ατμοσφαιρικό κλίμα της πλοκής. Σταδιακά χτίζονται εικόνες στο μυαλό σου και οι χαρακτήρες σε κατακτούν ο καθένας με τον τρόπο του. Και μπορεί όλο αυτό να αργήσει αλλά πίστεψε με όταν έρθει θα είναι ένα βιβλίο που δεν θα θες να αφήσεις από τα χέρια σου.
Η πολιτική είναι επίσης ένα από τα δυνατά σημεία του βιβλίου και φυσικά το καλύτερο κομμάτι του, θεωρώ, είναι οι συνδέσεις και το τιτανομέγιστο plot twist που θα σε αφήσει σίγουρα ξάγρυπνη για νύχτες ολόκληρες

Το βιβλίο αυτό έρχεται πακέτο με μια μεγάλη λίστα trigger warnings τα οποία θα ήταν καλό να ελέγξεις πριν μπεις στην ιστορία. -Βία, σκηνές πολέμου, ερωτικές σκηνές, σκηνές αιχμαλωσίας κ.α-
Προτείνω αυτό το βιβλίο σε όσους ψάχνουν μια επική εμπειρία που θα τους στιγματίσει ολοκληρωτικά.
