The book «Ancient Laws» by Nikos Charalambous examines ancient legal traditions that preceded Roman Law, shedding light on their contribution to the development of the global legal culture.

Special emphasis is placed on ancient Greek law, through the legislation of city-states such as Athens, Sparta, and Gortyna, as well as through the thoughts of philosophers and playwrights like Plato, Aristotle, and Aristophanes.

At the same time, the author also explores other primary legal systems, such as those of the Sumerians, Babylonians, Egyptians, Hittites, and Jewish Law.

Through an interdisciplinary approach, the work highlights the timeless significance of the concepts of law, ethics, and justice – especially in the modern era, where artificial intelligence is called upon to interpret and apply legal rules.
