The unpublished poetry of one of the most important American poets, curated and introduced by Shane McCrae.
Only Sing is a continuation of John Berryman's extensive work, The Dream Songs. These 152 unreleased poems expand this epic part of twentieth-century American psychology. In the voice and figure of Henry — full of desire, self-awareness, and a constant sense of opposition to the world — Berryman created, in McCrae's words, "a hero for a disillusioned nation".
Berryman never saw these dream songs printed, but he was satisfied that if they ever appeared, "it would be up to the reader to place them among the published ones".
