Resolution and Frame Rate

The device records video in native 1440p resolution with a steady refresh rate of 60 FPS. This specific technical specification ensures high clarity and smooth frame flow during demanding live streams or professional video calls. The optical sensor processes image data accurately, minimizing lag and motion blur. The result is a natural and smooth reproduction, maintaining consistent signal quality regardless of the broadcasting platform.

Fast Auto Focus

The Auto-Focus system instantly adapts to changes in the distance between the subject and the lens. This technology keeps the central subject continuously focused, without the need for manual fine-tuning. It is especially effective in situations where the user moves frequently or presents objects close to the camera. The system operates in real time, eliminating blurry shots and ensuring consistent sharpness.

Control Software

The camera is managed through the specialized Razer Synapse software. The program provides access to preset image profiles, as well as the ability to fine-tune the color palette and brightness. The user can precisely adjust the exposure, contrast, and white balance, adapting the image to the lighting conditions of the environment.

Wide-Angle Lens and Audio

The camera features a wide-angle lens that expands the field of view, allowing for the capture of a larger portion of the surrounding area. At the same time, it is equipped with a built-in microphone optimized for clear voice capture. The audio recording system complements the image, offering a complete Plug-and-Play communication solution. The combined operation of visual and audio components simplifies installation.

Built-in Privacy Cover

The construction includes a physical privacy cover Privacy Shutter, which protects the lens when the device is not in use. The mechanism operates with a simple rotational movement, completely blocking visual access to the sensor. This design prevents unintentional recording and ensures the user's privacy.

Honestly, I don’t know how many stars to give to be fair.

The camera does its job. In low light it is satisfactory, within reasonable limits and for the use I care about, namely a decent presence in professional meetings. I haven’t tried the microphone.

However, before this camera I had the Kiyo HD since 2022 (the one with the ring light), which I bought back then for around €85 and today still sells for about €45. I replaced it because it developed a problem (a blown fuse on the board -- my wife repaired it BEFORE the new one arrived!)

So the issue is that the Kiyo V2 X is not better than the old one, not even a little. In low light it may even be marginally worse.

OK, it’s 2K instead of HD, you might say, which is true... but at least for use in Google Meet/Zoom, I probably don’t need 2K anyway. Personal opinion, obviously.

But the camera has other issues too. For some reason, the menu in Synapse is more complicated with the V2 X (I tested them side by side with the repaired HD to verify it)! Playing with the settings I saw a small improvement, but I only brought it up to the quality of the Kiyo HD.

The V2 X has some autofocus issues, which keeps adjusting, but the old one did that too... if it becomes annoying, you switch it to manual through Synapse.

The privacy shutter is nice (and was missing from the old one) but in use it seems somewhat... delicate, to put it politely. The ring that rotates to open and close the shutter is plastic and deforms slightly every time it opens or closes. Nice effect, yes, but complicated... a simple cover would have been more than enough.

Finally, for those interested in cable management, the Kiyo HD has a thin and flexible cable with a "cord-like" texture. The V2 X has a simpler but clearly thicker and stiffer cable. In both cases the cable is fixed (it does not disconnect on the camera side). The connector is USB-A on both.

In short... I’ll do just fine with this camera, but based on the result, I would buy the Kiyo HD again.
