With the outbreak of the First World War, Asia Minor Greeks from Moschonisi endured countless hardships, violence, and persecutions. The author Vasiliki Ralli began her writing journey at the age of 70, and until her death in 2022, she wrote over 30 books! She became widely known when, together with her husband, Angelos Rallis, they discovered the bones of Saint Raphael on their estate in Therma, Lesbos, while digging to build a small chapel, following a vow made by her mother, Angeliki. Just before the end of her life, she became a nun named Irene at Panagia Eleousa in Patras.
