Description

The illustrated history is based on the eponymous book "Unforgettable Homeland Asia Minor" by the prolific and legendary Vasiliki Ralli, which vividly narrates the story of her mother Angeliki Galisioti and her father Nikolas Maragos, to the point that you feel their faces come alive before your eyes!

Angeliki and Nikolas are born, grow up, fall in love, and dream in their homeland, Moschonisi of Asia Minor, during a time when Greeks and Turks lived side by side in harmony and brotherhood. Through the true story of these two individuals, the tragedy of all Asia Minor Greek communities is revived!

With the outbreak of the First World War, Asia Minor Greeks from Moschonisi endured countless hardships, violence, and persecutions. Unforgettable days in the history of the Greek population of Asia Minor, depicted through illustrations that attempt to express the grief and mourning of the destruction!

Finally, after the Asia Minor Catastrophe, comes the definitive uprooting of the Moschonisi family from their homeland in 1922 and their refuge in Metropolitan Greece. This original illustrated book uniquely captures the history of Asia Minor so children can learn and adults can remember!

The author Vasiliki Ralli began her writing journey at the age of 70, and until her death in 2022, she wrote over 30 books! She became widely known when, together with her husband, Angelos Rallis, they discovered the bones of Saint Raphael on their estate in Therma, Lesbos, while digging to build a small chapel, following a vow made by her mother, Angeliki. Just before the end of her life, she became a nun named Irene at Panagia Eleousa in Patras.
