The REDARC Smart Start® SBI12D is a remote battery disconnect switch controlled by a microprocessor, used in dual battery systems. It is designed to operate as a solenoid priority system to protect the starting battery from over-discharge. The SBI12D provides 12 volts DC with a continuous flow of 100A.

Dual Detection

The dual detection model is used to isolate the starting and auxiliary batteries in a system where the auxiliary battery can also be charged from an external source such as solar panels or external AC battery chargers. The SBI12D also allows the starting battery to be charged from the external source once the auxiliary battery reaches 13.2 volts, which is useful for charging the starting battery.

Energy Saving Technology

The Smart Start SBI12D incorporates electronic components that prevent the solenoid from generating high voltages. It is better than a diode-based battery separator due to the voltage drop associated with the diode. It features advanced fault detection and a LED operation indicator to warn the user of errors such as over-voltage, voltage drops, and excessive current flow.

Primarily used in 4WD and professional vehicles, the Smart Start SBI provides a safe way to charge an auxiliary battery and should often be installed with a high-quality safety kit.
