The Revolution of 1821 was not a straightforward path to freedom. It was a mosaic of conflicts, dreams, mistakes, sacrifices, and above all, incredible determination. Even two centuries later, the Struggle for national rebirth continues to raise questions and new interpretations.

This book does not aim to repeat the hero-centered narrative of previous decades, nor to uncritically adopt the revisionism of the time. It seeks to offer a balanced and well-documented approach to the Struggle as a complex historical phenomenon, where military action coexists with political conflicts, human characters, international interventions, and mechanisms of collective memory.

With a critical eye and the use of historical sources, both well-known and lesser-known events are illuminated, established myths are deconstructed, revealing a period full of contradictions, where the noble meets the humble, courage meets despair, and faith meets doubt.
