This volume includes twenty-two studies of Greek Folklore, which address issues of both traditional and contemporary modern and postmodern Greek popular culture.

These are studies that have been presented at conferences or have already been published, some of which are forthcoming, as indicated by the relevant list published at the end of this volume.

These essays mainly deal with issues related to rituals, primarily religious or even on the margins of public ritual, as well as verbal or enacted representations of elements of Greek popular culture throughout time.

Therefore, these studies concern both the older traditional and the contemporary modern Greek popular culture, often focusing on the long and complex processes of transition from the former to the latter.
