Corydoras aeneus are among the most popular species of the Corydoras genus, recognized in the aquarium community for many decades. They are favorites as bottom-dwelling fish for most hobbyists, as they are considered essential for the process of cleaning the substrate from food residues. Despite the appearance of many other species of the Corydoras genus on the market in recent years, C. aeneus maintain their reputation as the most common "catfish."
