The line between hate and passion has never been thinner.

He rarely speaks to me.
And yet, he won’t leave me alone.
We used to be best friends. Then he turned against me and made it his life’s mission to ruin mine.
In high school, I was humiliated, excluded, and there were rumors about me everywhere.
His pranks never stopped, and each time they became harsher.
I even went to France for a year, just to escape his shadow.
But I won’t hide anymore.
And there’s no way I’ll let him ruin my last year at school.
Maybe he hasn’t changed.
But I have, and it’s time to fight back.
I won’t let him bully me again.

“Don’t hide from me and don’t ask me to hide” - Tate

Tate and Jared have known each other since they were kids. Back then, they loved each other, hung out together, and were friends…
    Today, they’re like two enemies.
He bullies her at a high school level, and she keeps her head down until the day she finds the strength to stand up to him.
Secrets hidden in the past will come to light, and maybe hate isn’t so far from love after all?

    1st fact:
    The book flows like water.
You won’t realize when you’ve gone from the beginning to the end. Douglas’s writing in her first book may be inexperienced and raw, but even here her talent for captivating you from the first page is clear.

    2nd fact:
The book is aimed at a younger reading audience.
If you’re somewhere between 16-22, then you might have found a read that will probably make you have a great time (not that I, the aunt, didn’t enjoy it) and you’ll find plenty of parts you can relate to (now, what can I, the aunt, relate to about high school, I don’t know).
The narration felt a lot like a high school girl’s diary, telling her woes about her crush. The writing is very simple and the characters aren’t deeply analyzed or particularly developed, but I think that’s very okay for this type of book.

    3rd fact:
    Simple and understandable message.
The book gives a beautiful message against bullying and in favor of inner strength.
Tate finds the strength to hold her head high and stand up to Jared’s bullying behavior, even when he’s the boy who makes her heart beat fast.

I recommend it to all those girls who are eyeing the "bad boys" in the back row
