Description

The history of JB Brooks & Co begins in 1866 when it was founded by John Boultbee Brooks, a specialist in the production of harnesses for riding and general leather goods. A pivotal moment came in 1878, after the death of Mr. Brooks' horse. Unable to acquire another horse, he borrowed a bicycle to commute to work. He realized that the bicycle saddle was very uncomfortable, so he decided to do something about it. On October 28, 1882, Mr. Brooks received his first patent for a saddle he created. Thus, JB Brooks & Co became known and respected as a manufacturer of leather saddles. IMPERIAL

Designed in 1890 with a truly anatomical shape and a special fit for the gender. The saddle features a cut in the middle for better ventilation, designed over 100 years ago. Thanks to its anatomically constructed structure, it does not put pressure on the perineum while cycling, ensuring maximum comfort. The perforated sides allow for custom shape adjustments with leather laces. In 1890, Brooks introduced the final line of saddles for this model. In the catalog from that year, the oldest preserved in the archives, Brooks presented most of the saddles with the original shape that prevents pressure on the perineum. More than 100 years before production today, John Boultbee Brooks found a solution to a problem we know very well today. This series was eventually discontinued in the 1950s. The best models have been revived, improved, and adapted specifically to the needs of both women and men.
