This review is about the colour: White

I bought this Eureka grinder knowing the company’s reputation and keeping in mind that the grinder accounts for 70% of the success of an espresso, especially when dealing with demanding specialty coffees (light/medium roasts). Unfortunately, this device presented a serious manufacturing defect that directly affects the result in the cup, while also causing me significant financial damage.
Before anyone proceeds with the purchase of any grinder in this category, they must know a basic truth: grinders almost never come perfectly aligned from the factory. It is essential, as soon as one receives the device, to carry out a thorough check to determine whether the factory deviation is within reasonable and acceptable limits, or whether it renders the grinder dysfunctional.
The problem caused by misalignment: When the burrs are not perfectly parallel, the coffee is not ground evenly. The grinder simultaneously produces very coarse pieces and excessive dust (fines). During extraction, water rushes through the coarse parts like a torrent, creating intense channeling (channels) and under-extraction, while at the same time over-extracting the fines. The result in the cup is an unbalanced coffee, simultaneously bitter and aggressively sour – a problem that cannot be corrected by any other adjustment.
Technical finding on my unit: The grinder has an excellent stepless micrometric adjustment system, where even a change of 0.1 on the dial radically changes extraction time. However, in my case, the factory deviation exceeded every acceptable limit.
By performing a check with the grinder turned off (rotating the shaft manually to avoid wear), I found the following:
    • The true zero point (the first, partial contact of the burrs) was found at the 0.6 mark.
    • For the burrs to come into full contact around their entire circumference (360 degrees) and lock, the dial had to be tightened all the way to the 9.6 mark.
A deviation of a whole unit on the scale is excessively large for the micro-adjustment range of this grinder. It proves that the burrs converge strongly on one side and diverge on the opposite side.
The financial burden and after-sales support: Although the problem is measurable and technically documented, the inspection by the company’s technicians was covered by the general assurance that “the product was checked and is working properly.” I also have, from the failure to resolve the problem, an indirect financial loss approaching €1,500, since all the expensive espresso equipment I own is now necessarily left unused at home, as the grinder is unable to properly feed the machine.
To find a solution, I am forced to turn to an external, specialized technician outside the warranty, bearing the corresponding additional cost myself for aligning the burrs. In devices of this price category, factory tolerances must be strictly checked and after-sales support must be impeccable and friendly.
So the issue arises that anyone buying such a grinder should keep in mind that they may need to check the burr alignment immediately after purchase, following all safety measures with the grinder turned off and with the required experience for this. If the alignment is not within acceptable limits, they will never have good espresso from the grinder.
This is what one should pay attention to first and foremost, not whether it is a beautiful grinder, whether it grinds quietly, or even that it has zero retention. These are secondary compared to the actual burr deviation.
All of this must be done as soon as they buy the grinder, within the return period, because after that, from either side, they should not expect recognition of the problem. I say this from my own personal experience.
In conclusion: I proceeded with the purchase of this particular grinder from Skroutz trusting its name (as I have done many times until now), but mainly trusting what is stated at the time of purchase: “And if it breaks? You have at least a 2-year warranty. Contact us and we will take care of the repair, replacement, or refund of your money immediately and completely free of charge.” However, something that did not happen in my case!!!

Excellent grinder and it confirms the "Zero" feature. Retention is from 0g to 0.2g and this is not an exaggeration at all. I highly recommend it.

Excellent mill! Quiet and with a nice cut. The gray color, however, shown in the photos has nothing to do with the real one. The real one is almost silver. Better, of course, because I consider it much more beautiful this way.
