Weld gives a deep red-tile color to the eggs. It is a traditional natural dye, before the ready-made dyes appeared on the market.
Materials:
- 30–40 g chopped weld
- 1 liter of water
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- white eggs (the color shows better)
Execution:
- Boiling the weld: Put the weld in a pot with the water and boil for 20–30 minutes.
- Straining: Strain the liquid to remove the pieces of the root.
- Add vinegar: Add 1 tablespoon of vinegar (preferably white). It helps the color to “take”.
- Egg dyeing: Put the boiled eggs in and leave them until they acquire the desired color.
- Drying: Let them dry without wiping them.
- Polishing (optional): With a little olive oil on cotton for shine.
