The complex space frame, constructed from more than 200 tube sections, earned the Maserati Tipo 60/61 the famous nickname Birdcage. Behind this innovative engineering is Giulio Alfiere, who advanced the idea of producing a space frame weighing just 30 kilograms. The design of the Birdcage frame is a true success. Surrounded by a tight aluminum cabin, the Tipo 61 has a 2.9-liter, four-cylinder inline engine that produces 250 horsepower on the road. Only 23 units of the Tipo 60/61 were built from 1959 to 1961. The white model with blue stripes is based on the championship car of the Camoradi team of Lucky Casner. It is an example of high-quality automotive model craftsmanship. Not only is the space frame clearly visible in the windshield area, but many other details are accurately represented to provide a visual delight.
