There are two unknown children, protagonists of these pages. One lies behind every child behavior and symptom. The other resides within us and each of us often unconsciously projects it onto the children who accompany us through life.
Through the interpretation of real childhood stories, the book helps us understand how every behavior, from a psychological perspective, is structured in a completely unconscious way within our inner world, already from the earliest years of our existence. The abandonment of childhood, nostalgia, betrayal, fear, all equally important issues for the birth of childhood tension, anxiety, but also confusion, are some of the topics analyzed.
It becomes clear that understanding the emotions once experienced by the adult as a child turns into a powerful “key” and is what will finally allow them to deepen into the inner world of the child. The author focuses on the child's problems not autonomously but always in relation to their immediate environment, both family and school, and opens therapeutic, reparative interventions for everyone: parents, children, as well as professionals in the field, educators, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers.
The book was the first in a long series of works, from which "The Anger of Children," focused on adolescence, and "The Lost and Found Child," focused on recalling childhood, have already been translated by University Studio Press.
