This thesis examines digital media and their influence on the emotions and emotional behavior of recipients and recipient groups. This includes both social and media changes in the development of digital media, focusing on the individual and social fabric.
At the same time, it explores the transformation of the concepts of the subject and the public sphere, the emotional behavioral trends of people, and their actions in digital worlds. It investigates not only perception but also the arising usage and interaction with digital media.
This includes communication and self-presentation in virtual worlds, the paradox of communication, the subjective construction of reality, and the divergence between critical distance and anonymity of users and content creators. Can the internet offer people an emotional home? To what extent do digital media manipulate us daily, more than we realize? Have we gained more freedom through the blurring of boundaries in virtual worlds?
