This book presents a QoS Management platform capable of considering, in real-time, both end-user experience and network performance metrics. The goal is to achieve the end-user's QoE through the implementation of various QoS mechanisms depending on the network's requirements and conditions.
Releasing unnecessary network resources during transmission means that other users could potentially utilize them. Ultimately, users pay according to their requirements and the corresponding network resources.
The platform is based on a proposed QoE framework. This framework includes a set of equations that enable the creation of a QoS to QoE map. For this project, a test was developed, and three types of QoS mechanisms were studied. The author does not claim to have found an absolute solution to the QoE to QoS problem. However, a new framework is proposed within which it can be explored.
The contribution is the Agent-Based QoE Framework, which has been validated through the development of the experimental prototype. This helped in understanding, defining the platform, and recognizing the limitations of existing QoE approaches.
