Description

Doris Kalousis is not an ordinary writer. Wanting to write his great novel, he struggles with unexpected challenges, both external and internal. He escapes to Parnassus to concentrate. But there he is swept away by a completely unknown book, so alive that its world begins to invade his reality.

Athens, 1942. Christoforos Bamias, a dismissed democratic officer, takes on the task of protecting the philologist Vasilis Sfendamis. But nothing is simple in his mission, in a hungry city and at a time when the Nazis plan to film Aeschylus' Oresteia as a hymn to the Führer. Sfendamis is threatened to endorse the most monstrous distortion of the ancient spirit. Bamias must save him, and with him, something much greater: the Truth. At his side is Galanis, a dog who is not exactly… a dog.

From the dark backstage of the Academy of Athens to the Oracle of Delphi, from Apollo to Dionysus, from our glorious past to our current schizophrenia, action, satire, and mystery weave a novel about the power of History and the fine line that separates myth from reality, wisdom from madness, narrative from life.
