COBI-20077 Roman Camp - IMPERIUM ROMANUM Gate
The Roman Camp - Gate set is a symbol of the strength and military power of IMPERIUM ROMANUM. The visitor can enjoy the experience as a commander, guarding the gate of an imposing Roman camp, where every step could mark the beginning of a great adventure or danger.
The gate is not just an entrance. It is a symbol of order, strength, and vigilance of the Roman Empire, serving not only as a defensive line but also as a meeting and trading place. When a wagon drawn by oxen with barrels and sacks of goods approached, no one knew whether it was a simple merchant or a cunning spy.
The Porta Praetoria, where the power of Rome began! Every Roman camp was surrounded by a tall palisade, and had at least four gates. The most important was the porta praetoria – the main gate, through which the legionaries marched out to battle, supplies and merchants arrived, but sometimes also people who were not who they claimed to be.
The gate with the merchant and guard is part of a modular set that can be combined with other elements from COBI’s IMPERIUM ROMANUM series, creating a realistic and expandable Roman military camp (castrum). The set perfectly complements 4 watchtowers (#20076), a second gate (#20077), and two legionary tent configurations (#20078). By placing the towers at the four corners and the two gates opposite each other, you create a square fortress, according to the historical layout of the castrum.
Inside, tent sets can be organized to create a complete garrison.
