Malifaux, a twisted reflection of an alternative Earth in the early 1900s, is a world of gothic horror, Victorian architecture, steampunk constructions, and Wild West gunslingers. A secret organization from the Union of Miners and Plumbers, the Arcanists believe that people should have free access to magic and enjoy its power. To outsiders, the organization is seen as anarchists and criminals, while to those who share their vision, the Arcanists are an ambitious group of everyday workers and mages capable of truly remarkable feats.
