Description

Asustor NAS in a tower form factor, primarily intended for home use. NAS devices house hard drives, making it easy to store data securely, and connect directly to your router. They create your personal cloud, making files accessible from any device you own without having to worry about each device’s storage space.

They focus on backups, which can be automated through settings, and entertainment, as they can stream content to any device with access. They also feature 2 Ethernet ports, mainly used to increase transfer speeds or provide redundancy. No hard drives are included, so you’ll need to add your own. Supports up to 16 drive bays.

Link Aggregation

Link Aggregation is a technique that allows the NAS to use two or more network (Ethernet) ports simultaneously as if they were one.

  • What it offers: It doubles (or multiplies) the data transfer speed and ensures that the connection will not be interrupted if one cable fails.

  • Why you need it: It is essential in environments where many users (e.g., in an office) request files at the same time, as it prevents network "bottlenecks."

  • Requirement: To function, it requires compatible network equipment (Managed Switch) that supports the same protocol.
