Manufactured in Russia, in the village of Voznesenskoye, Novgorod region. The nesting dolls, also known as matryoshkas or "matryoshka dolls," are a set of wooden dolls that fit inside each other. The name “matryoshka” comes from a very popular female name in rural Russia before the revolution. The Latin root of the word “Matryoshka” is “mater,” meaning “mother.” The word “бабушка” (babushka) in Russian means “grandmother.”
The use of Matryoshka dolls serves as a decorative ornament for the home. The dolls are made of wood and are not recommended to be washed. If necessary, they can be gently wiped with a slightly damp cloth. Since the dolls are handmade, the final paint and dimensions may vary slightly from those shown.
