The bicentennial of the Greek Revolution is a milestone of great historical significance.

In an effort to serve and strengthen historical knowledge and memory, Parisian Publications inaugurates the publishing series "Philhellenic Library," which will expand into a considerable number of volumes and will include valuable testimonies, memoirs, biographies of notable Philhellenes, rare documents, as well as thorough studies on their lives and activities.

Johann Jacob Manger was one of the most emblematic figures of philhellenism during the Greek Revolution. Of Swiss origin, he left his homeland to passionately stand by the side of the rebelling Greeks.

Settled in Messolonghi, he linked his name with the publication of the Greek chronicles, essentially the first Greek newspaper of the struggling Greek nation. His tragic end during the heroic sortie marked a life devoted to the struggle for freedom.

This book, with meticulous documentation and rich photographic material, records the life and work of Johann Jacob Manger, highlighting his importance in the fight for Greek independence.
