A field experiment was conducted at Dr. PDKV, Akola from November 2017 to May 2018. The experiment was arranged in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with five treatments, including four levels of drip fertigation.
The study indicated higher plant growth, a greater number of branches, more fruits per plant, and improved yield under all levels of drip fertigation. The brinjal yield was highest in the drip fertigation treatment at 150% RDF (T4) (557.10 q/ha) and was found to be on par with the drip fertigation treatment at 125% RDF (T3) (554.88 q/ha).
It was observed that the brinjal yield in treatment T4 was considered higher than in treatment T3, which was statistically equal. However, the advantage of treatment T3 is that it requires 25% less fertilizer. Considering that treatment T3 requires less fertilizer than treatment T4, treatment T3 can be regarded as the best treatment.
The minimum brinjal yield was found in the traditional fertilization treatment at 100% RDF. Greater irrigation water use efficiency of 7.33 q/ha-cm was found in the drip fertigation treatment at 150% RDF (T4), followed by the drip fertigation treatment at 125% RDF (T3).
