"The Emperor Has No Clothes" is an old saying, but in the unfortunate case of Deconstructivism, it is entirely fitting, as Deconstructivism is essentially Modernism in a new form. Modernists, especially the Bauhäusler, sought a clean break, discarding everything that came before. However, they sometimes claimed connections to predecessors to give a false historical legitimacy to their goals and creations.
These dubious links and precedents are now being attributed to the works of Deconstructivists by sympathetic architects and their advocates. The second edition of this book marks the beginning of a much-needed counterattack.
