This book is a collegial gesture of tribute to the esteemed Professor of Modern Greek Philology at NKUA, Christina Dounia.
The multifaceted and well-respected work she has accomplished in the field of Modern Greek Studies and Comparative Philology covers a variety of themes and directions: literary history, periodicals, philological editions, paths of criticism and reception, reception of European currents, correspondence, gender identities, and more.
Her major studies on the relationship between literature and politics, her work on Karouakis and prominent representatives of the Generation of the Thirties, combined with significant philological editions and introductions to editions of works (Maria Polydouri, Petros Pikros, M. Karagatsis, Nikos Kazantzakis, Dora Rozetti) have contributed to bold and significant revisions of literary history.
Her interpretative methodology, which involves examining literary texts within their historical and ideological contexts, formed the basis of dialogue as well as a learning experience from her work. The present commemorative volume is a proof of this dialogue and exchange.
The book includes 43 texts by colleagues, students, and collaborators from the academic-philological community. The material is arranged chronologically, covering the entire 20th century: from the early decades and interwar years to the post-war period and the Metapolitefsi. It is the century that Christina Dounia mainly "visited," leaving her mark on the people who walked alongside her.
