Rose madder is the dried and cut root of the Rubia tinctorum plant, with no additives. It is traditionally used in natural dyeing to produce red shades, as well as in folkloric and botanical applications.

To dye Easter eggs, grind it and boil it in water for 10 minutes. Leave it to steep for 2–3 hours or overnight, then strain it and add half a wineglass of vinegar. Boil the eggs in the liquid for about 15 minutes, keeping them covered by it. The dosage is 70 g for 15 eggs.
