Intense images, a powerful atmosphere, vivid characters, and a world that seems to move somewhere between the real and the transcendent.
And even though it is a large book, I read it almost in one breath. It doesn’t let you observe it from a distance. It pulls you into it. It makes you part of its world.
And perhaps that is the most charming thing: when you close the book, you feel that for a little while you are leaving behind a place where you had truly been. "Mora" is not just a story you want to know how it ends. It is a world you want to discover

I wouldn't say it's the best book I've ever read, but it is perhaps the most beautiful Greek novel that has come into my hands recently. It stands out for the depth and intensity of its writing, but mainly for the power with which it penetrates the reader's mind and emotions. It has a dark, almost hypnotic atmosphere that follows you even after you've finished reading, leaving a feeling that is heavy but at the same time captivating.

Description & Specifications

THERE ARE PLACES THAT BELONG NEITHER TO THE LIVING NOR TO THE DEAD.

By the river stands silently Liochori, a forgotten mountain village. But for its inhabitants, it is the whole world. There, life flows quietly. People live humbly, carry hidden desires, never speak of those who have left, and learn to live with their loss. Hector and Amalia long for a child who never comes. Leonidas lives hunted by the death of his beloved. Anna raises her four children all alone. And the priest holds his faith like a lantern, illuminating only what should be seen.

That December, a tragic accident on the mountain slope during a snowstorm will result in the fateful meeting and silent alliance of three men, disturbing the boundaries between life and death. Since then, something will always move between them, taking the shape of each one's greatest fear.

In quiet Liochori, life and death cease to be opposing forces; they become intertwined and claim an equal share...

A dark metaphysical novel about the limits of existence, the guilt that cannot be buried, and those choices that demand their price, even when everything seems finished.

A dark metaphysical novel about the limits of existence, the guilt that cannot be buried, and those choices that demand their price, even when everything seems over.
