His doctrine, which almost became our own, was: "Do not wait for the revolution. Those who promise revolution are charlatans, just like the others. Make your own revolution yourself. Be free people, and live in companionship." I am obviously simplifying, but it was a speech with a beautiful simplicity. A clear command, a rule, "and let the old world go to hell!" (Victor Serge)
The forceful entrance of Libertad into the anarchist movement in France at the dawn of the 20th century marks the beginning of the anarcho-individualist current. Raising his rough and cheerful cry in the middle of the streets of Paris, he opens a new – and dangerous – path of revolutionary practice: life means constant rebellion. He aggressively proclaims "I hate resignation, I hate inertia!" and encourages inspiringly "never to tolerate even the slightest diminishing of our ego, to love life!"
Despite his early tragic end, he left a deep imprint, remaining to this day one of the most important representatives of the overlooked trend of anarcho-individualism. The edition at hand is the first complete presentation of him in Greek.
