Fighting Formations (FF) is a series of war games that covers the tactical combined arms warfare of World War II at the battalion and company level. Each game in the series features a distinct combat unit, highlighting the battles in which this unit participated, as well as its specific formation and characteristics in battle.
In each scenario, one player will take command of elements of the presented unit, while the other will control the opposing forces. The two players will alternate issuing orders, activating their units on the map for various military operations.
This edition covers the battles of the US 29th Infantry Division in Europe during 1944. The scenarios include the wide variety of attacks the division was called to carry out against German forces entrenched in towns and fortresses, crossing open fields, through bocages and forests. Each new battle forced the 29ers to learn new tactics in order to overcome the obstacles to their advance toward Berlin.
