How does a school classroom and education in general in the 21st century differ from those of the past? Change has always existed in human history, and in the era we are living in; however, the feeling of change often leaves people feeling uncertain, experiencing the sense that they cannot keep up, contribute, or often understand the changes, under the pressure of what is collectively called "globalization".
For decades, intercultural Education has been called upon to answer such questions, and its scope has been so extensive that its boundaries often become unclear. In this book, we aim to approach interculturality in the contemporary landscape, shaped by global pressures and modern political choices, both domestic and European.
We are particularly concerned with issues of citizenship, exclusion phenomena, and current approaches to education. In our opinion, an effective school addresses all participants in the educational process, and intercultural education constitutes a comprehensive approach that responds to the modern spectrum of social needs.
