Description

My eighth book includes femicide cases that shocked Greece and were widely covered by the media in Greece for an extended period, with some also gaining international attention (such as the murder of Caroline by her pilot husband, as well as the brutal murders of Geryfalia in Folegandros, student Eleni Topaloudi in Rhodes, and Kyriaki outside the Agioi Anargyroi Police Station in Attica).

All are real cases and do not contain fictional scenes or storytelling. They took place in Athens, Thessaloniki, and various other parts of Greece up until the 2020s. However, the reader will also find murders of women from earlier times that leave a strong impression on newer generations.

I mention, for example: A farmer killed his wife because she only gave birth to girls. Another killed her because she didn't have the food ready when he returned from work. Another husband strangled his wife in a wine barrel because – as he claimed – he was intoxicated, and immediately after his wife's death, he remarried. Someone else sexually abused a woman he had imprisoned in his house, and his wife recorded all the scenes!

"The femicide perpetrators hold the keys to our homes" is one of the characteristic slogans of movements against gender-based violence. In the forty-five years I have served in police and judicial reporting, "apprenticing" alongside all kinds of offenders, I can confirm this.
