It tries to do what the genuine one does, but because it's not made of good material/the magnets are not strong, it doesn't work well. So, in order for it to stick well on the iPad, you need to put the transparent plastic on the back. Other than that, it seems to protect well and it sticks somewhat. I give it a 4 solely because of the price.
