  • MS 162
I bought it in October 2025 on offer, €179, with a 35 cm bar, and I have used it for ~80 hours. I also bought a spare chain, a fuel filter and 3 air filters, and an NGK spark plug.
I used it for pruning (green) olive trees, I have cut wood up to ~25 cm and some dry almond branches up to ~12 cm.
It did not have the claw-metal holding teeth; the dealer gave them to me free of charge. Its chain has a width of 4 mm. There is no possibility of fitting a second screw with a nut (and the corresponding cover and cost, as I had done on the MS 180—I have a related comment). Its bar is supported by one screw with a nut and one sheet-metal screw, which makes assembly somewhat difficult when you do it on the ground.
The caps for the oil and fuel tanks screw on externally, and sawdust does not get into the tanks. Before refueling I clean around the caps with a brush.
After the first ~5 hours of operation, the nut unscrewed, and the bar and chain came off. I reassembled them without any problem. Once the chain (normally “tightened”) came completely off the bar and bent, and I put on the spare one. Twice the chain came off—partly, about ~15 cm—from the top part of the bar, from where it starts to come out of the cover. At the dealer I went to, he could not give me any explanation, and the bent chain cannot be repaired. I bought a new one (he gave me an original factory one) and a nut. It starts easily. The package did not include the small orange screwdriver. MADE BY STIHL IN CHINA. You get what you pay for. It is for small jobs. At Stihl and Husqvarna I have found every spare part and technical support I needed.
    For information:
I will not buy Stihl tools again, with chain quick-tensioning, nor with a four-stroke engine. I use the red Stihl oil for two-stroke engines. I find NGK spark plugs cheaper “outside” and they are good.
