This work constitutes a comprehensive research study that presents particular practical interest, as it is imminent to incorporate the Directive on Strategic Lawsuits against Public Participation (SLAPPs) into Greek law. Therefore, the developments within this work are structured and composed for obvious practical reasons.
The theory included in the developments is only sufficient to understand the practical issues that arise from the adoption of anti-SLAPP legislation in Greece. Divided into six chapters, the work gradually presents an overview of the issues related to the abusive filing of lawsuits to intimidate those who challenge large private interests in the public interest (SLAPP suits).
The book, with reference to specific cases, guides us through the complex world of conflicts between legitimate interests. Not every complaint against a large corporation is justified and protected, nor is every complainant, simply because they claim pure intentions, inherently right.
Case law and legislators must find solutions for fair balance. And it is now time for Greek legislators to establish such solutions, based on the anti-SLAPP Directive. The exceptional usefulness of the book lies precisely in the support it can provide to anyone seeking to gain a deep and comprehensive understanding of the issues and solutions related to this, through an extensively informative presentation of the offered solutions for aligning Greek law with the relevant EU requirements.
