George was born on September 8, 1962, at Agiorani Birth Clinic, a stone-built manor that still exists today. His father, Thomas, was a farmer; his mother, Vasiliki, was a notary.
He was a healthy baby, with a large masculine member. The moment he came out of his mother's womb, George let out a loud laugh — a laugh that would characterize him throughout his life.
His father, as soon as he learned that everything had gone well with the birth, happily and proudly, drank a beer and then, with pruning shears used for trimming strawberries, cut a lock of his wife's hair and placed it under his pillow, as was the custom.
Forty days after the birth, the village priest crossed the baby's navel with some strawberry jam. "To make him a sweet person when he grows up," he said.
"He will become a great man," said Vasiliki to Thomas, looking at George.
"Hopefully," replied Thomas.
