In this work, the reader has the opportunity to learn about critical issues of the Cypriot State, especially from the perspective of constitutional theory and developments in the state-building process.
Special mention is made of the House of Representatives, which functions not only as a Revisory body but also as a legislative body. The entire legislative process—and ultimately, the democratic outlet of the state’s functioning—is understood as a process of seeking and achieving compromises among the social, political, and scientific priorities and contradictions of all involved. However, the non-implementation of the law is a form of political crisis.
As long as democracy is afraid to enforce laws it itself enacts after continuous negotiations and compromises on difficult emerging social, economic, national, and European issues, populism will continue to grow.
The Cypriot State must move towards a unified Europe through a transparent, democratic process, with participatory operation of political parties, mainly through the media and modern social networking tools, in order to shape a framework of democratic resilience that will guarantee the development of all productive activities and embody the evaluative priorities and crises necessary for the implementation of economic and social goals.
