Explore Scientific H-Beta 2" filter for telescopes. Designed for observing nebulae. One of the most significant obstacles to exploring the night sky is the brightness caused by artificial light sources, such as streetlights. The night sky is not truly dark near cities, which significantly reduces the visibility of objects beyond the solar system. Depending on the type of celestial object, it is possible to dramatically increase contrast by blocking unwanted artificial light.
The Explore Scientific H-Beta filter takes advantage of a characteristic property of so-called nebula emissions. These objects glow in specific colors, known as emission lines, related to chemical elements—in this case, hydrogen. The filter uses hydrogen by blocking all other colors (and almost all artificial light), allowing only the hydrogen emission line to pass. The result is impressive: nebulae suddenly become visible in locations that appeared completely empty without filters.
