The surgical suture PROFIMED-PTFE is a sterile, monofilament, non-absorbable surgical suture made from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) polymer. The PROFIMED-PTFE suture is indicated for tissue approximation or contact retention of soft tissues, including use in cardiac surgery and dental procedures. It is not suitable for ophthalmic surgeries, microsurgery, or peripheral nerve tissue repairs.
After implantation, the PROFIMED-PTFE surgical suture causes a very mild local tissue reaction, typical of foreign body response, followed by appropriate local fibrous connective tissue growth.
Applications in dentistry:
- Periodontal and implant surgeries
- Soft tissue regeneration
- Guided tissue and bone regeneration (GTR, GRB)
Features:
- 100% pure PTFE (without additives or fillers)
- Excellent biocompatibility. Profimed is biologically and chemically inert.
- The monofilament structure prevents bacterial growth associated with multifilament sutures.
- Ideal for membrane placement applications.
- Very soft, facilitating handling and reducing tissue trauma.
- High tensile strength.
- Free of APHO, entirely safe for health.
- The surface structure prevents fusion with skin and tissues.
- Hydrophobic and oleophobic (no blood penetration).
- Extremely low coefficient of friction (protects skin and tissues).
- Unlike other synthetic monofilament sutures, the material is flexible and causes reduced reactions in the oral cavity.
