The surgical suture PROFIMED-PTFE is a sterile, monofilament, non-absorbable surgical thread made from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) polymer. It is indicated for holding tissues in contact or for approximating soft tissues, including use in cardiac and dental surgeries. Its use is not recommended for ophthalmic procedures, as well as for microsurgery and peripheral nerve tissue.

After implantation, the surgical suture PROFIMED-PTFE causes very minimal local tissue inflammation, characteristic of a foreign body response, followed by the appropriate local growth of fibrous connective tissue.
