Description

Two convicts for a small bank robbery have been working in forced labor cleaning a sewer for years. They are set to serve their sentence once they completely clean the area. However, the problem is that right above them there is a large hole through which all the trash from the “above” world falls.

So, while they try to keep their sewer clean, it continuously gets filthy again. What will happen when, through the open hole, the most famous influencer of the country falls into the sewer, along with a pile of trash? This fall is going to turn the lives of all three protagonists upside down!

Who are the ones above, and who are the ones below? The dichotomy is not only a matter of location but also of hierarchy: who is visible, who is heard, who has access, and who stays off-screen. Ultimately, where is it better to live—the “above,” where everything is seen, or the “below,” where everything is revealed?

The play was awarded the State Prize for Drama Writing in 2022.
