The MSR Elixir 1 tent is a freestanding tent designed for a single person, offering a functional space for camping. The interior features a rectangular floor area that fully utilizes the space and accommodates a wide sleeping mat. The frame design provides significant headroom, allowing comfort while seated and when managing gear inside. The MSR Elixir 1 uses a freestanding structure based on two 7000 series aluminum poles, adapted to various ground conditions. The color-coded poles, straps, and clips make setup easy, even in low visibility. The rainfly offers full coverage and features a large side vestibule for storing a backpack, shoes, and wet gear. The guy line system with strategically placed anchoring points stabilizes the tent in windy conditions.
The rainfly is made from 75D ripstop polyester coated with polyurethane, waterproof up to 1500 mm H2O, and features a DWR coating free of PFAS. The rainfly seams are taped, and the entrance features StayDry doors with a shaped gutter to guide water away from the zipper and vestibule. The rear vent improves air circulation and reduces condensation when the rainfly is closed. The floor is made from 75D taffeta polyester with a 3000 mm H2O polyurethane coating and is PFAS-free, providing an effective moisture barrier from the ground.
Inside the tent, 20D nylon mesh surfaces are combined with solid 40D polyester panels, offering a balance between breathability, insulation, and privacy. The entry zipper follows a gentle curve for easy one-handed operation and reduces the risk of snagging. A large gear loft under the roof is useful for storing flashlights, glasses, or light clothing. The interior pockets have cable ports for organized cable management.
