This is largely due to the fact that later interpretations have often been based on assumptions rather than precise firsthand observation. With this in mind, I present my own modest judgments below, not to persuade skeptics or extend lengthy arguments, but rather to focus on what I believe can be demonstrated with some degree of certainty.
