Unfortunately, it is a must-have for graphics cards that use the 12VHPWR connector. With the exception of Asus’s Astral series, there is no card that shows how much current passes through each pin in Nvidia’s 4000 and 5000 series. The uneven distribution of current from the cable to the card has been linked several times to melted connectors, and this device acts as an early warning system.

It shows the current distribution across the pins and has the ability to issue audible warnings when the temperature at the connector (on both the GPU and cable side) is high enough. Also, if the special cable is connected to the motherboard’s reset jumper, it can even shut down the computer when it detects a problem.

Before buying it, it would be good to check which orientation your graphics card uses. The orientation listed by Thermal Grizzly on its website is for horizontal mounting and directs the cable downward. Therefore, for vertical mounting, you want the opposite orientation.

A big plus is that it comes with a 2-year warranty from Thermal Grizzly itself, which also covers any issues with the graphics card itself. For example, if the connector melts while you are using the WireView Pro 2, Thermal Grizzly covers the cost of repairing/replacing the graphics card.

I recommend it without hesitation, especially for those who have an RTX 4090/5090.
