The subject of this study is the legal and historical approach and perspective of the two unique surviving Byzantine typika of Cyprus: the typikon of Saint Nilo for the Monastery of Machairas and the typikon of Saint Neophytos the Recluse for the monastery of the same name in Paphos. The aim is to fill the research gap present in legal literature regarding the authentic legal interpretation of the Cypriot typika and their connection to the current Cypriot Ecclesiastical Law.
