Using high-quality components such as CineMag's O-12 (input) and 5002 (output) transformers, the WA76-A/A2 achieves the authentic "Blue Stripe" compression, renowned for its fast compression and the addition of harmonic distortion. It features:
- dry/wet knob for parallel compression
- two versions of active bypass for adding analog color
- selectable input impedance for compatibility with modern recording interfaces
The single-channel WA76-A provides additional sidechain flexibility, allowing for key input and EQ insertion for de-essing, while the stereo model (WA76-A2) includes multiple stereo functions, including dual-mono unit and lead:follow compressor, with channel A controlling channel B.
