Black mustard seeds are characterized by a strong, distinctive flavor and aroma, as well as rapid growth. Black mustard contains a higher amount of phytochemical substances with bactericidal properties and vitamin B2, which enhance the body's immune processes compared to other mustard varieties. They also contain dietary fibers, saponins, flavonoids, and plant hormones, which beneficially regulate the body's functions and blood circulation. Ideal for spicy dishes, such as salads, fresh cheeses, and sandwiches. The seeds can also be used as a seasoning for pickled cucumbers and homemade mustard. Black mustard seeds are easier to cultivate than white seeds due to significantly less mucilage produced during the germination process.
Sprout Preparation:
- Growing sprouts at home is very easy using an airtight Toraf sprouter.
- Simply follow the instructions in the user manual.
- The sprouts are ready to consume after 3-6 days.
- The sprouter allows simultaneous cultivation of 3 types of sprouts.
Another method of sprout production is sprouting in a jar.
- To do this, rinse the seeds, then transfer them to a previously sterilized container and cover with boiling, warm water. Soak for several hours, then drain the water and rinse the seeds.
- Cover the container with gauze, tie it, and place it in a warm (18-22°C), shady spot. During this time, rinse the sprouts twice a day with water.
- The sprouts are ready to consume when they reach about 1-2 cm in length, after 3-6 days.
