Christos Yannaras was among the first to denounce the involvement of Greek society in consumerism and the culture of utilitarianism, narcissism, and self-affirmation, as well as ruthless conventionality, which devalues and irreparably spoils everything. He emphasized the importance of personal existence that draws the meaning of life from the Trinity, highlighted the significance of relationship and communion of persons as it is blessed within the ecclesiastical mystery, and called upon us Greeks (and the whole world) to discover those truths that lead man to exist as a divine creation, as a unique being, as a person turned toward the truly Existing One.
